Training course in the Time Travel method, first session
Organisers: KZN Museum Service in cooperation with Bridging Ages KZN, Port Shepstone Twinning Association and Kalmar County Museum, Sweden.
First training session 13-14 October 2011 in Gamalakhe, Port Shepstone. Second training session will be held in February/March 2012 (Venue to be announced).
The goal is to establish functioning Time Travel groups, develop skilled leaders and promote sustainability of Time Travels in KZN. Target group Leaders of Time Travel groups in KZN. Every Time Travel group consists of 4-7 persons of various professions: museum/heritage staff, teachers and one curriculum advisor and other community members.
Outcomes of the training Ability to organise and lead Time Travel events. Know the seven steps of the Time Travel method including organisation of study groups, landscape education, teaching at school and Time Travel. Know the five principles, the benefits and problems of the Time Travel method. Write a scenario and organise a Time Travel at the own chosen site. In-depth learning and the Time Travel process. Implement Time Travel in the schools. Knowledge of Time Travel events for variouos target groups. Be linked to the Bridging Ages organisation. Between the first and second training session each Time Travel group will choose their Time Travel site, conduct research and write a draft scenario for that site. A report will be presented and discussed at the second session. After the second session each Time Travel group will finalise the scenario and make one or several Time Travel at the site.
