Södra Gatan 8 Mariehamn, Åland
The house at Södra Gatan 8 is probably built in 1873 originally, although given several later additions. In 1899 the house was bought by the widow Johanna Eriksson, born in 1843. Johanna had previously been married to sea captain Axel Arvid Eriksson, born 1840 and died 1898.

The town youth are gathered at Johanna Eriksson to celebrate her nephew, Gustaf Eriksson, and his fiancée Hilda Bergman and their engagement. Johanna needs help preparing for the party. They will have to clean, chop firewood and cook.
